Laura

This is my entry for the Princess Design Contest.

I tried to give her a story that could be considered worthy of a Disney princess, keeping in mind what actually makes a Disney princess. I also tried to keep her clothes as close to Mexican culture as I could, so I’m very sorry if they’re a bit off! The first outfit is what she would wear for most of the story. So anyways here’s her story!

Laura is a girl who lives in a little village in Mexico, and loves sculpting. Crafting was one of her favorite hobbies, along with collecting old stuff. Laura is an optimist, a fun and confident girl. Sometimes she is too positive. She lived with her grandfather, and friendship and fellowship reigned in that village. But there was another girl, so quiet and dark that nobody would come near her. Not because of her looks or personality. Perhaps because she was said to be daughter of a certain mysterious and intimidating man that had already died. Well, Laura was not one to leave a friend behind, and she saw her village as a family.

Soon, she became good friends with that girl, Reina, and discovered she was interested in magic and witchery, as her father was. Her father had lived his whole life trying to find out ways to cure people with magic, but people treated him like he was mad. Laura, however, said she believed in her and would never see her as a bad person. This gave Reina some confidence, but the need for revenge was bigger. She despised that town for what they had done to her father. Reina then became a villain to everyone, even Laura. She sought power. Since Laura was the one who said she could do what she liked to do, she felt responsible for this and needed to find a way to stop Reina. She eventually confronted Reina, but the villain, fearing to lose her power, hit Laura on her weak spot and turned her grandfather to stone, knowing how much she loved sculptures.

In the end Laura defeats Reina, but is only able to save her grandfather with the help of the village. Laura loves people and loves feeling she has a family. As any good family member and friend, she ends up not leaving Reina behind.

So, it’s not the shortest story, but I tried. And I liked how it turned out. I hope you like it too!
